Yahoo! has begun implementing a "compose verification" for their mail service. When you send a message through their web interface, they ask you to enter a string of characters displayed in an image to complete the sending process. They have a form which blind users can fill out in order to be contacted by a customer service representative, but I have yet to receive a reply after three days. Meanwhile all my unsent mail is sitting in my outbox and I can't get it out. I think the blind community needs to put a lot of pressure on Yahoo! to implement a strategy which will allow us to send our mail independently. Sending mail occurs much more frequently than signing up for an account or joining a group. If they continue to treat us like low-priority consumers, then they will lose our patronage. I don't think I can have enough impact to make them aware of this alone.
I used to use Yahoo but I don't anymore. I haven't liked them much since they changed there format. I can't find the send link on the Compose form, I've never been able to reply to anything, and I can no longer move things to folders. So I switched e-mail providers. I really hope Yahoo makes some changes.
I'm glad i'm not the only one that thinks Yahoo's pretty darn blah. I use them to get attachments and that's it. Don't send mail out from there.

While this may sound strange, but I've been using yahoo for about 4 years now and while the format has changed, I have no problems including the compose varification. Everything is fine on my end.

What do you mean you have no problems including the compose verification? I have an account that was grandfathered from the days before they required you to enter a string to get an account, but when I hit the send button, I'm asked to enter a string of characters to complete sending my mail. How can you see the characters in the image? Are you totally blind? Do you fill out the request form every time you are presented with the verification string?
